---->Ronnie OSullivan 9thRonnie O'Sullivan is primed and eager to shoot back up the world rankings in the New Year after clinching a record ninth Premier League title in Norfolk.

The three-time world champion, now into his third season of a highly successful relationship with The Money Shop, has always reveled in the fast and furious format featuring a 25-second shot-clock.

And comprehensive wins over reigning world champion Neil Robertson and former Crucible king Shaun Murphy saw the Rocket claim £59,000 in prize money and lift the trophy yet again at the Potters Resort in Yarmouth.

O'Sullivan, who celebrates his 35th birthday in early December, may have to delay the party while he remains in the draw for the BBC-covered UK Championships which take place in Telford this month.

But the bad news for his opponents for the remainder of the season is that former No1 O'Sullivan, surprisingly down to world No8 in the rankings, feels he is running into a bit of form, and is even managing to satisfy his famous perfectionist streak.

O'Sullivan said: "I do feel good at the moment. Up until recently I was getting so low in practice I couldn't play for more than half an hour.

"But I have been working hard with my coach Frank Adamson, I knew I needed to change something, and we've ironed out a flew flaws.

"I have been going in to matches thinking ‘I might play half-decent tonight', and that has been the case. In the last four or five weeks I have played better than at any time in the past two or three years.

"I think I am in a false position in the rankings, as I have missed a few tournaments to be look after my kids on the weekends when they are with me.

"I was very pleased with my win in the Premier League, though. That is nine times I have won it now, and seven times since the shot-clock was brought in.

"The format seems to suit my game, and I enjoy the live television and packed houses wherever we go.

"I had big wins over Neil Robertson and Shaun Murphy at finals weekend, and we all know what good players they are with Neil being world No1 and world champion, and Shaun playing well again this season."

As the biggest draw in the sport, O'Sullivan ensures that the Money Shop logo on his waistcoat is seen by many millions of TV viewers across the UK, Europe and worldwide with snooker enjoying growing popularity in Asia and the Middle East.

And the Chigwell-based player has embraced all aspects of a partnership that has seen him open new stores, and participate fully in customer and staff rewards schemes.

However, in the intense spotlight created by his unquestioned genius on the table, O'Sullivan feels he is sometimes unfairly portrayed as a ‘bad boy' of snooker.

He said: "It makes me laugh sometimes, because I think I am the complete opposite of a bad boy, whatever that is.

"Yes, I play the game in an attacking style and if I miss a shot I show my frustration sometimes. Maybe it looks as if I don't care if I win or lose but I do, I'm just playing with a free spirit.

---->Ronnie inspects trophy"That attitude does unsettle a lot of opponents when you play them. Jimmy White was the same at his prime, and the much-missed Paul Hunter was another one.

"You think you've got them under wraps, but they produce the unexpected and conjure something up from somewhere.

"It can be intimidating for the other player, you are not playing the percentage shot and it unnerves them, potting something where everyone else would play safe."

Speaking of intimidation, there are a few tennis players who have stood across the net from Swiss great Roger Federer that have experienced that emotion.

O'Sullivan has always been a huge fan of the six-time Wimbledon champion for his ability to combine grace and elegance with a stockpiling of his sport's biggest prizes.

And he recently grabbed the opportunity to go and watch one of his sporting heroes at close quarters at the O2 Arena for the season-ending ATP Tour Championships.

O'Sullivan said: "Unfortunately I wasn't able to go and see him win the final against Rafael Nadal, but I got to see two of his group games as well as one of Andy Murray's.

"The way he can raise it when he most needs to is just incredible, and he plays shots other players just can't, or would never try.

"The O2 was a fabulous venue for tennis, and created a really good atmosphere. It was just a shame the final clashed with the Premier League, so I only got to see it on the TV."
