HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR THE MONEY SHOP AS IT OPENS 300th STORE IN CANTERBURY
The Money Shop, the UK's number one instant cash provider, recently opened its 300th store in Canterbury.
The new store, located on High Street, will offer the full range of Money Shop's consumer financial products and services. This will be the Money Shop's third store in Canterbury.
Caroline Woodward, Canterbury store manager, said: "I'm really excited about heading up the new store in Canterbury, our third in the city. As a popular tourist destination, our foreign currency services and zero per cent commission on all foreign exchange transactions should prove very popular with customers. In addition to currency services, we will also offer in store cheque cashing, short term loans such as ‘Cash ‘til Payday', pawn broking, our hugely popular Gold to Cash service, Western Union money transfer products and other ancillary products and services."
The Money Shop, a subsidiary of the publicly listed U.S. based company, Dollar Financial Corp., has been established on the UK high street for 14 years. The opening of the 300th store in Canterbury further expands the Money Shop's UK pawn broking business, reaffirming its position as the largest network of pawn broking stores in the UK.
Andrew Bryan, marketing director of the Money Shop, said: "To be increasing our presence through additional stores and creating new jobs is great news for the historic city of Canterbury. The Money Shop opened its first store in Nottingham in 1996 and now employs over 1,000 people across its network, serving over 400,000 customers a year often in communities which have been vacated by traditional banks and post offices.
