GOLD FEVER PUTS BIRMINGHAM SHOPPERS IN THE PICTURE Birmingham's streets were paved with gold this weekend when the Money Shop, the UK's number one instant cash provider, launched an innovative street art campaign which aimed to draw in the customers.
The activity saw a talented 3-D street artist transforming the streets of Birmingham city centre with his 3-D pavement designs depicting a giant purse bursting with valuable gold and jewellery.
Selling gold and valuables is the latest move by cash strapped consumers who are trading in their bling or even holding ‘gold parties' for one simple reason: where gold was £180 an ounce ten years ago, it's now over £600 an ounce - so treasured family heirlooms, teenage bling and ex-husbands' guilt offerings can be instantly turned into cash.
The street stunt - which also saw human gold statues literally bringing the campaign to life - was to support the Money Shop's Gold to Cash Direct service enabling customers to turn their gold into instant cash.
‘Gold prospectors' wishing to bring in their bling to stores in Central Birmingham will receive a free red purse, as seen in the current TV advertising campaign.
With the largest network of pawn broking stores in the UK, The Money Shop launched the Gold to Cash Direct service to enable customers to take unwanted gold jewellery, coins or even damaged gold into any of over 270 stores and sell for instant cash. Customers can even check out the value of their gold online at www.moneyshop.tv with the Gold To Cash calculator to see how much it could be worth.
Andrew Bryan, marketing director of The Money Shop said: "Gold to Cash Direct allows customers to take advantage of the high price of gold either in store or online. The response to the service has already been phenomenal as customers consider alternative credit options against the current economic climate. It's amazing how many people have gold jewellery that is lying forgotten about in drawers at home or has fallen down the back of the sofa. People could literally be sitting on a goldmine! Hopefully our activity in Birmingham will serve as a reminder for people to dig out their unwanted gold and cash it in at one of our three Birmingham city centre stores on Bull Street, Dale End and High Street."
There are ten Money Shop stores in Birmingham including the three city centre stores.
